1/2 DC/MD/VA Severe Weather Alert

Severe weather possible today.

A strong cold front will combine with a developing low pressure to cause widespread heavy rains and some strong to severe thunderstorms today. The best chances for severe weather will be the Southern areas of Virginia and especially North Carolina. Areas just east of the mountains may be stable enough to prevent the severe weather. The biggest threat would be strong winds and hail, but conditions in North Carolina (and limited elsewhere) does appear to be able to support tornadoes!

Please stay alert to weather and media outlets for watches or warnings.

Of note, this morning temperatures in the northern parts of the mountain valleys has been cold enough fro some freezing rain.

All for now!
